Trope: Fake Romance
Trope: Fake Romance

Meghan Quinn can do no wrong in my book, so before even reading it I would say buy it, read it, and then read it again.

Scottie Price just started a new job and it's a real sausage fest. She's the only woman on a team filled with Brads and Chads. Expecting a bachelor pad atmosphere, she is quickly corrected when she finds out everyone is happily married.

In an effort to impress her boss, Scottie mentions her nonexistent husband in a company meeting. But eagle-eyed Chad points out her lack of wedding ring. Panicked, Scottie creates a story about her unhappy marriage. Unfortunately for Scottie, her boss has a solution—a one-on-one session with the best marriage counselor in the Northeast, who happens to be her boss’s husband.

With no way out of her lie, Scottie agrees to see him. Frantic, she calls in help from her best friend who sets her up with his brother, an improv-obsessed millionaire.

Enter Wilder Wells. More than happy to take on the job, he teaches Scottie the main rule of improv: always say yes. But the rule backfires during the session when Wilder signs them up for an eight-day summer marriage camp with all of Scottie’s co-workers where she’ll have to share a cabin with her way-too-handsome fake husband.

Enemies to Lovers - You've Got Mail Vibes

Rivalry and romance spark when two bookstore managers who are opposites in every way find themselves competing for the same promotion.

But when the new owner of both stores decides to combine them, the two are thrust into direct competition. Only one manager will be left standing, decided by who turns the most profit over the summer.

Efficient and detail-oriented Josie instantly clashes with easygoing and disorganized Ryan. Their competing events and contrasting styles lead to more than just frustration—the sparks between them might just set the whole store on fire. Their only solace during this chaos is the friendship they’ve each struck up with an anonymous friend in an online book forum. Little do they know they’re actually chatting with each other.

As their rivalry heats up in real life, their online relationship grows, and when the walls between their stores come tumbling down, Josie and Ryan realize not all’s fair in love and war. And maybe, if they’re lucky, happily ever afters aren’t just for the books.

Meant to Be Series Book #5 - Mulan Retelling

Mulan's ready to get down to business. But when it comes to love, she hasn't got a clue.

As the right hand of her father’s private equity company, Fa Mulan knows what it takes to succeed as a woman in a man’s world: work twice as hard, be twice as smart, and burp twice as loud as any of the other finance bros she works with. So when her father unexpectedly falls ill in the middle of a critical acquisition, she is determined to see it through. There’s just one hitch: the family company in question is known for its ultra masculine whiskey brand, and the brood of old-fashioned aunts, uncles, and cousins who run it—lead by the dedicated but overworked Shang—will only trust Mulan’s father, Fa Zhou, with the future of their business.

Rather than fail the deal and her father, Mulan pretends she’s Fa Zhou. Since they’ve only corresponded over email, how hard could it be to keep things moving in his absence?

But the email leads to a face-to-face meeting, which leads to an invitation to a week long retreat at Shang’s family ranch. One meeting she can handle, but a whole week of cattle wrangling, axe-throwing, and learning proper butchering techniques, all while trying to convince Shang’s dubious family that this young woman is the powerful private equity CEO they’ve been negotiating with? Not so much—especially as she finds it harder and harder to ignore the undeniable spark between her and Shang.

Can she keep her head in the game and make her father proud, all while trying not to fall into a trough, or in love with Shang?

Does your past define your destiny? Told through multiple perspectives, rich with emotion and immersive dual timelines, The Summer We Ran weaves together a story of lost love, devastating secrets, shocking sabotage, and the painstaking decision two people must make in order to fulfill the futures they each desire.

In the summer of 1996, Tess Murphy’s mom gave her two rules to abide by: keep quiet and stay out of trouble. Her mother landed a new job as a cook at an affluent Virginia estate and didn’t want anything to risk the opportunity, least of all her outspoken teenage daughter. What no one saw coming was Tess falling deeply in love with the boy next door, high-society Grant Alexander.

Over a few wondrous and heat-filled months, Tess and Grant’s love blooms so ferociously it feels utterly impossible that anything can keep them apart, until tragedy strikes.

Now, more than two decades after their epic teenage romance, Tess and Grant are both running for governor of Virginia, and secrets from that summer threaten to shatter their families, their political futures, and the memory of the first love that shaped their lives.

“NASA? Space missions? The ’80s? This is a collection of all the things I love.”—Andy Weir, author of Project Hail Mary and The Martian

Joan Goodwin has been obsessed with the stars for as long as she can remember. Thoughtful and reserved, Joan is content with her life as a professor of physics and astronomy at Rice University and as aunt to her precocious niece, Frances. That is, until she comes across an advertisement seeking the first women scientists to join NASA’s space shuttle program. Suddenly, Joan burns to be one of the few people to go to space.

Selected from a pool of thousands of applicants in the summer of 1980, Joan begins training at Houston’s Johnson Space Center, alongside an exceptional group of fellow candidates: Top Gun pilot Hank Redmond and scientist John Griffin, who are kind and easygoing even when the stakes are highest; mission specialist Lydia Danes, who has worked too hard to play nice; warmhearted Donna Fitzgerald, who is navigating her own secrets; and Vanessa Ford, the magnetic and mysterious aeronautical engineer, who can fix any engine and fly any plane.

As the new astronauts become unlikely friends and prepare for their first flights, Joan finds a passion and a love she never imagined. In this new light, Joan begins to question everything she thinks she knows about her place in the observable universe.

Then, in December of 1984, on mission STS-LR9, it all changes in an instant.

Fast-paced, thrilling, and emotional, Atmosphere is Taylor Jenkins Reid at her best: transporting readers to iconic times and places, creating complex protagonists, and telling a passionate and soaring story about the transformative power of love—this time among the stars.

Trope: Rock Star Romance - Second Change
Trope: Rock Star Romance - Second Change

This book is sounds really good. I am definitely adding it to my TBR.

Micah's relationship to music is complicated. As teenagers, her band took off after being featured on a popular TV show, but the group barely released their sophomore album before breaking up. Now, over a decade later, the band is reuniting for one more performance on a themed cruise, and Micah is determined to learn from her past mistakes -- no losing herself in the music, and no losing her heart along the way.

John misses playing in a band, and mostly he misses Micah, who'd been his best friend until the music stopped. Back then, he didn't take the lead, either in his guitar parts or while he sat back and watched her date another bandmate. John's never been one to rock the boat, but he's faced with another chance now that this cruise has brought music -- and Micah -- back in his life.

Onboard, Micah can't help but see John with brand new eyes, and John's feelings only intensify as the discordant band's tension grows to a breaking point. With five days at sea, there's a ticking clock on anything that might develop between them, and they'll have to decide if their relationship is destined to be more than a one-hit wonder.

Trope: Work Romance
Trope: Work Romance

This sounds like a cute premise. I'm on the fence about it, but I am keeping it on my list of books to consider.

She’s playing the part of romance author, but has she found her own real life love story?

Talent agent Charlie Francisco has three problems: a divorce that ended his screenwriting career, a business he never planned to inherit, and a take-your-breath-away romance novel whose author wants nothing to do with its publication. The book is a surefire hit, if only his agency can find someone to “play” author on its summer book tour.

Enter Kate Elliott, a former soap actress who’s miraculously right for the part at the very moment her life seems to be going all wrong. Kate is still recovering from her own divorce and Charlie’s job offer is a lifeline. She agrees to the pretense for all interviews, signings, and appearances surrounding the novel’s publication. But she can’t know who really wrote the remarkable story—the one so beautiful it’s made her believe in love again.

When Kate and Charlie meet they’re all friction and sparks—the one thing they have in common is they’re determined to play their respective parts. But as the summer heat ups and the lies get bigger and bigger, can they stick to their lines . . . or will they go off-script?

Trope: Magical Romance - Music
Trope: Magical Romance - Music

I love Ashley Poston. So with her writing and adding in a musical element, I am so here for this book.

Joni Lark has a secret. She’s one of the most coveted songwriters in LA, and yet she can’t write. There’s an emptiness inside her, and nothing seems to fill it.

When she returns to her hometown of Vienna Shores, North Carolina, she hopes that the sand, the surf, and the concerts at The Revelry, her family’s music venue, will spark inspiration. But when Joni gets there, nothing is how she left it. Her best friend is hiding something, her mother’s memories are fading fast, and The Revelry is closing.

How can Joni write when her world is leaving her behind?

Until she hears it. A melody in her head, lyric-less and half-formed, and an alluring and addictive voice to go with it—belonging, apparently, to a wry musician with an emptiness of his own.

Surely, he’s a figment of Joni’s overworked imagination.

Then a very real man shows up in Vienna Shores. He’s arrogant and guarded—nothing like the sweet, funny voice in Joni’s head—and he has a plan for breaking their inconvenient telepathic connection: finish the song haunting them both and hope they don’t risk their hearts—or their secrets—in the process.

Because that melody, the one drawing them together . . . what if it’s there for a reason?

Boys of Avix Series Book #3 - Fake Dating

I loathe the day I ran smack dab into the hard chest of Alister Howl, Avix University's second-string quarterback. The moment he smiled my way, I should've run. And, well, I did…straight into his bed.

The sky is burning.

The Reapers are keeping secrets. Vampires roam the wastes.

And I’m headed down a path of destruction which can only end in death.

I’m a soul cast adrift on a tide of grief and lies. A clock ticking down the moments to my inevitable destruction, and all I can do is race towards it.

The nations are caught in this endless battle for supremacy and it’s hard to see myself as anything other than a pawn in the twisted games I’m helpless to control.

The Waning Lands are screaming, soaked in blood for so long that even the rivers run red with it. But those screams are whispering riddles that only some of us can hear, begging us to see the signs and listen to the meaning beneath the words we chant so obediently.

What if there is something more to this war? What if winning isn’t what actually matters? What if our magic isn’t the thing that truly divides us?

My heart is hardened to the wants of the world and all who occupy it, yet still I hear them call my name. Perhaps it’s time I started listening and found out why the stars have set us this fate. Or if not the stars, then who?

Something is rotting at the heart of our lands. So now I have a choice to make. Will I seek out the decay and work to destroy it? Or will I join it in its destruction of this world in vengeance for all the suffering it has offered me?

I’m starting to want things I shouldn’t want. Desire a man I should hate. Care for a warrior I should only wish to harm. The point is, I’m beginning to feel like more than just another pawn in this endless game. But if I want to be the one who rolls the dice then I’m going to have to pay the price of playing for real.

I only wanted to claim revenge for what I’d lost.

Maybe Destiny isn’t done with me yet.

The Heirs Series Book #3 - Romantic Suspense - Bodyguard

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee lights the fuse, and the Stone siblings must rely on their wits and hearts to uncover a dangerous enemy…and an explosive secret.

Taking over her late father’s company was never part of Alex Stone’s life plan.

But now, sitting in the CEO chair at Stone Enterprises, she’s resigned to living her life alone. Being a high-powered, billionaire woman tends to narrow one’s romantic prospects. As Alex works relentlessly to reshape her inherited hotel empire, she’s acquired a target on her back complete with death threats.

Alex turns to Hawk Bronson, a man who is equal parts bodyguard, sexy, and completely infuriating. Especially when it comes to protecting her.

As the danger escalates, Hawk comes to terms with the fact that their connection goes way beyond bodyguard and assignment. He knows he should keep his distance―his own dark past and nightmares put her at greater risk―but he can’t walk away. Protecting Alex means everything. Putting her life in someone else’s care isn’t an option once he’s tasted their passion and depth of his feelings.

As they navigate a minefield of family secrets, past pain, and unexpected hope, Alex and Hawk must face their deepest fears and fight for a future together. But first, they’ll need to unmask whoever is behind the threats―before Alex becomes their next victim.

Preston Brothers Series Book #4 - Enemies to Lovers - Spinoff to More Than Series
Preston Brothers Series Book #4 - Enemies to Lovers - Spinoff to More Than Series

I am so excited for this book. I have read the More Than Series and then The Preston Brothers Series multiple times. Can't wait for this one. It's been so long since Jay McLean came out with a book.

Hatred comes in waves.

But love? Love is a tsunami.

Liam Preston was five the first time he laid eyes on Adelaide Baker.

Eight by the time he found the courage to actually speak to her.

By ten, she’d ruined his entire existence.

And at fourteen, he got his revenge—a single decision that drove her out of town for good.

Or so he thought.

Five years later, she’s back.

Not just back in town, but back in his life—and forced into close proximity.

Now, there’s no escaping the past.

No avoiding the memories, the damage they caused, or the secrets they tried to bury.

And worse? No hiding the desire that clouds their disdain.

Uncovering the truth could bring them closer together…

If it doesn’t first tear them apart.

Trope: Age Gap - Part of the Ravenhood series
Trope: Age Gap - Part of the Ravenhood series

This series has been on my To Buy TBR for a while now. With the hype surrounding this release I feel like it needs to happen. Great reviews for this series and I don't see why this one would be any different.

Go deeper with the Ravenhood Legacy in this second installment of the sizzling, darkly seductive, internationally bestselling series spin-off. Here, at last and in his own words, is Tyler’s story…

NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED.

Once upon a time there lived an ambitious boy determined to become a man before his time.

And there lived a woman, one who believed herself past the point of redemption. Her scars mild in comparison to the secrets she holds.

Intent on his quest, Tyler enlists the only person who can help him—his best friend’s volatile aunt, Delphine. A woman twelve years his senior, and one he can’t seem to stop fantasizing about.

Delphine’s only goal is to shape him into the Raven soldier he needs to be. But the forbidden connection between them grows.

It’s the forging of their bond that will irrevocably change them both.

And for Tyler, it’s the loss of that love that will birth the warrior within.

But then, nothing has ever been fair in love and war . . .

Trope: Estranged Friends to Lovers
Trope: Estranged Friends to Lovers

The synopsis sucked me right in on this one. Childhood best friends, boy next door, a treasure hunt. This sounds like it would be a good read.

Last week, Nina Hunnicutt was a professor about to move into a gorgeous new apartment with her long-term boyfriend. Now, she’s single, unemployed, and living with her parents. Even more surprising is the fact that Quentin Bell, her childhood neighbor (and okay, fine, crush), is also back in town—and wants to resume the treasure hunt that ended their friendship almost two decades ago.

Hoping the reward promised to whoever finds the rumored riches left behind by the town’s eccentric turn-of-the-century seltzer magnate will help her get her life back on track, Nina agrees. Granted, last time the search resulted in a broken heart and seventeen years of silence. But Nina’s older and wiser now. Surely things will be different?

Except, Quentin is also older and wiser…not to mention distractingly handsome. As they resume their hunt, Nina and Quentin begin to rediscover all the things they once loved best about each other. But unlike the treasure, the secrets that left them empty-handed the first time refuse to stay buried. If there’s any hope of finding what they’re looking for—and for a future together—Nina and Quentin will have to be brave enough to excavate their past as well.

Trope: Second Chance???
Trope: Second Chance???

This one has me intrigued for sure. First we were introduced to the main FMC in Hannah Brown's Mistakes We Never Made. Second Sybil has four ex-fiancés. And all of them show up on her island vacation. All I keep picturing is Mama Mia hahaha. What is the genius behind this book and we don't know which ex-fiance is the MMC or if Sybil even ends up with any of them. I am most certainly reading this one.

Starling Ranch Inn promises to be a tropical paradise, and Sybil can’t wait to escape there, all expenses paid. Well technically the expenses were paid—last year, when she was supposed to go to Hawaii for her honeymoon with her then-fiancé Jamie. But the wedding didn’t go as planned (or at all), and now she’s decided to use those hotel vouchers alone, before they expire.

Sybil’s expecting mai tais, med spas and me-time, so she nearly plunges backwards into the infinity pool when she sees that Jamie has had the same idea! His family business is thinking of buying the resort, so he’s here with a gorgeous, tangerine bikini-clad “colleague” to give the property a once-over.

Desperate to save face in front of the ex who broke her heart at the altar, Sybil accidentally-on-purpose blurts out that she’s here with her boyfriend. But what starts as a harmless lie to spare her dignity soon spirals into an ex-fiancé fiasco when Sebastian—the second of Sybil’s three failed engagements—pops by fresh off a photography gig. Seb’s always up for a good time, and happy to play along …sparking unexpected jealousy in Jamie.

From snorkeling snafus to stunning vistas to staff parties at the beach, Sybil does her best to juggle two ex-fiancés, but it’s becoming clear that her past of broken promises must be reckoned with once and for all—including that first fiancé, Liam, the one she never talks about…

Is the notorious free-spirit, life-of-the-party, runaway bride Sybil Rain ready to heal from her three past engagements and make room in her heart for a fourth and final chance at love?

From a New York Times bestselling author, a second-chance rom-com about a debut author who unexpectedly goes viral when readers discover her hero was inspired by a beloved pro hockey player—and her high school crush.

Debut author Gemma Stanton knows romance readers love a bad boy—and she has the perfect prototype for her novel: Mason Moretti. High school hockey god-turned-pro player, Mason was Gemma's first crush, but she couldn't forget the sting of his very public rejection. So, she casts him as a hot-headed Highlander in her spicy new historical romance. She never expected readers would find out on live TV when a morning show host invites Mason for a surprise on-air reunion...

As an aging hockey player with a rep for being ruthless on the ice—and roguish off of it—Mason has an image problem. So, when his meet-cute with Gemma goes viral, Mason proposes they build on the momentum with a few fake dates to boost her book sales...and his sagging profile. But when the fictional flirting gets a little too real, Mason realizes Gemma actually makes him want to become a better man—someone worthy of her trust and her love.

Will Gemma give him a second chance? Mason knows it's a long shot, but taking shots is sorta his thing, and besides, who loves a redemption arc more than a romance author?

Grimm Bargains Series Book #2 Dark Romance - Revenge
Grimm Bargains Series Book #2 Dark Romance - Revenge

Succession meets Black Mirror with the morally gray heat of Scarlett St. Clair and the addictively immersive realities of Rebecca Yarros, as obsession takes center stage in this steamy, neon-lit, dark romantasy twist on Snow White and the Huntsman, set in a seductive world of money, power, billionaires, and the dangerous desires that drive them.

Mirror, Mirror . . . The reflection holds a darker truth.

ALEXEI

I’ve spent the last seven years in the hell of a maximum-security prison, every moment consumed by the need for revenge—revenge against the bastards who framed me, and revenge against the family who stole everything I owned. Now that I’m finally free, nothing will stand in my way. Not even her—my hot as sin new lawyer. Maybe she’s another weapon sent by my enemies to break me, or maybe she’s the key to my freedom. Either way, once she’s mine, I’m never letting her go.

ROSALIE

When I took this case, I thought I had it under control. But Alexei is no typical convicted killer—he's a dangerously seductive force of nature. Perhaps it's the lingering power from his days as heir to a global social media empire. Innocent or not, he's dangerous in the worst and best ways.

I secure Alexei’s release as we prepare for a new trial, but he wastes no time turning against his traitorous relatives and plotting his return to power. Amidst the chaos, our explosive chemistry ignites, putting us—and everyone I care about—in the crosshairs of ruthless enemies. If we can’t stop them, Alexei plans to burn the whole world down. And if anything, he’s a man of his word . . .

Nashville Rampage Book #1 - Football romance - Only available as ebook
Nashville Rampage Book #1 - Football romance - Only available as ebook

NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kaylee Ryan brings you a new standalone series surrounding the Nashville Rampage football team. Make the Play is a brother's best friend, forbidden, secret relationship romance.

Corie

Knox Beckett is heartbreak in a helmet. He’s also my brother’s best friend, and so far out of my league, he's untouchable.

But a few stolen glances turn into a welcome home that blindsides us both.

The rules are clear. We just chose not to follow them.

Now we’re sneaking around like we’re running a trick play, hooking up behind closed doors, and pretending our actions don’t have the power to blow up our lives.

Knox is under my skin and tackling his way into my heart. Ready or not, it's time we make the play.

Knox

She’s the last girl I’m allowed to want—my best friend’s little sister. She’s all grown up and looking at me in invitation.

The second Corie crashes into me, with her tanned, toned skin, in a barely there bikini, I know I’m in trouble.

I shouldn’t look. And I sure as hell shouldn’t touch. My hands are already on her waist, one second longer, and I’ll do something we both might regret.

What I do is even worse. I help her land a job working for the team. My team.

Now I can’t get her out of my mind, or my way. And keeping my hands to myself is a penalty waiting to happen. Because Corie isn’t just off-limits—she’s one line I swore I’d never cross, yet I’m sprinting toward it.

I’d risk the season—my entire career—for her just to make the play.
